Raptors agree to two-year deal with point guard Payne

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to a two-year contract with free-agent point guard Cameron Payne, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.

According to Charania, the f14th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder our of Murray State will receive at least a partial guarantee from the NBA champions, with an opportunity to compete for a backup spot.

Payne, 24, averaged 6.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 17.8 minutes in 31 games with the Chicago Bulls and nine with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, shooting 43.0 percent from the field, 29.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and 80.5 percent from the free-throw line.

In four NBA seasons, Payne carries career averages of 6.0 points, 1.8 boards and 2.5 assists in 16.0 minutes in 153 games (28 starts), along with a shooting line of 39.7/33.1/77.5.
