Adams turns down Lakers, will stay with Warriors

After being pursued by the Los Angeles Lakers, Ron Adams will remain with the Golden State Warriors, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

Adams, considered one of the top assistant coaches in the NBA, has been in the league since being hired by the San Antonio Spurs in 1992. Considered to be a defensive specialist, Adams has been part of Steve Kerr's staff with Golden State since 2014, being part of the Warriors' three NBA championship teams.

The Lakers received permission to speak with Adams in June. Los Angeles has hired Jason Kidd and Lionel Hollins -- both former NBA head coaches -- to be part of Frank Vogel's staff.

However, Adams decided to remain with the Warriors, with whom he will have a "revised" role on Kerr's staff, according to Youngmisuk.
