Brown, Celtics come to terms on four-year contract extension

The Boston Celtics have signed Jaylen Brown to a four-year contract extension, the team announced in a news release.

“Jaylen has made tremendous strides over the last three years and has become a fantastic player for us on both ends of the court,” Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said in a statement. “He’s a great person and hard worker who, at 22 years old, can score and defend against the best players in the NBA. Jaylen is a true professional who did a great job accepting his role last season, and he is a major part of our championship goals.”

The deal is worth $115 million, agent Jason Glushon told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Brown, 22, has been a key part of the Celtics' deep runs into the playoffs in each of the past three seasons. Last season they made it to the Eastern Conference semis after taking LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games in the East finals in 2018.

Brown is 6-foot-7 and averaged 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 74 games last season.

The Celtics are undergoing a makeover of sorts, having added All-Star Kemba Walker as their point guard after losing Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets. They also lost center Al Horford in free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers and added Enes Kanter.
