Hield, Kings agree to four-year contract extension

The Sacramento Kings have reached agreement on a four-year contract extension with shooting guard Buddy Hield, according to multiple reports.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal is worth $94 million, with $86 million in guaranteed money. Hield also has the potential of earning an additional $12 million in bonuses, Wojnarowski reported.

Hield, 26, is entering the final year of a four-year, $15.9-million rookie contract, signed after the New Orleans Pelicans drafted him with the No. 6 overall pick in 2016.

He is 6-foot-4 and showed great improvement last season as a starter, averaging 20.7 points and 5.0 rebounds. He shot 46 percent from the field and 43 percent on 3-pointers.

As Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee noted, Hield became "the first player in NBA history to make 600 3-pointers in his first three NBA seasons, surpassing the likes of Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.”

The Kings tip off the season Wednesday at the Phoenix Suns.
