Knicks to sign Ellenson for remainder of season

The New York Knicks intend to sign forward Henry Ellenson for the rest of the season following the expiration of his 10-day contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Ellenson collected 13 points to go with nine rebounds in the Knicks' win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday.

Ellenson, 22, the 18th overall pick of the 2016 draft out of Marquette by the Detroit Pistons, was waived by them on Feb. 9.

The 6-foot-10, 245-pounder played in two games for Detroit this season, averaging 6.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 12.5 minutes, shooting 36.4 percent from the field. He was waived when Detroit needed a roster spot to add guard Wayne Ellington.

Ellenson carries career averages of 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.5 minutes n 59 games (2 starts), shooting 36.4 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from deep and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line.
