Unlike his former teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers, LonzoBall enjoys playing with, even alongside, IsaiahThomas.
As Ball made his return from an MCL sprain that sidelined him for 15 games Friday night against Dallas at the Staples Center, Lakers coach LukeWalton experimented with Ball and Thomas, two point guards, on the floor at the same time.
“I liked it a lot,” Ball said of being on the court with Thomas. “Two playmakers on the court, I think we benefit from it.
"(I) Look forward to playing with him all the time.”
For context purposes, while Ball and Thomas paired in the same backcourt, the Lakers' plus-minus rating was minus-6 in the blowout win. Neither was a member of Los Angeles' starting lineup.
Ball finished with nine points, on 3-of-8 shooting (including 3-of-6 from the 3-point line), seven rebounds and six assists.
Thomas played 25 minutes and contributed 17 points, , on 5-of-12 shooting (including 2-of-7 from 3), two rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Though he won't play in the tail end of a back-to-back tonight in Sacramento as he attempts to work his way back, Ball feels good about returning to action.
"It felt good to just be back on the court," Ball said. "I was just out there playing, having fun. I wasn't even thinking about anything, just playing hard."
