The Cleveland Cavaliers will hold their face-to-face meeting with free-agent point guard Derrick Rose today in Ohio, according to a report from ESPN.
Rose, 28, is coming off a season in which he averaged 18.0 points and 4.4 assists in 64 games with the New York Knicks season. He met with the Los Angeles Lakers last week, and has also drawn interest from the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls.
The Cavs are in the middle of some drama involving All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, who has reportedly requested a trade.
According to ESPN, the Cavs and Rose have already held serious discussions, with the Cavs offering a one-year minimum deal worth $2.1 million.
Multiple league sources believe Rose is leaning toward signing with the Cavs, regardless of what happens next with Irving.
The Cavs are expected to pitch Rose on playing next to LeBron James, winning now and reaching the Finals for the first time in his career. It is not known if James will attend the meeting with new general manager Koby Altman, Rose and others.
