Los Angeles Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas will finally have surgery on his troublesome hip, and it will result in the free-agent-to-be missing the final few weeks of the season.
The Lakers made the announcement official Thursday, and several reports stated Thomas will likely be out of action for up to four months.
Thomas, 29, will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He spent 17 games with the Lakers following a midseason trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The surgery was performed with the purpose of cleaning up the damaged hip joint that has bothered Thomas since the Eastern Conference finals last season.
