The Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets have discussed a trade that would net the Lakers a draft pick and a player, according to a report from the Washington Post.
Los Angeles reportedly would like to acquire a first-round pick to flip to the San Antonio Spurs in a potential trade for All-Star small forward Kawhi Leonard — and LA may be willing to take on a bad contract from the Nuggets to make it happen.
The report did not say what the Nuggets might receive in return.
The Nuggets are aggressively seeking to shed salary by trading forward Kenneth Faried, but are also trying to move Darrell Arthur or Wilson Chandler.
Faried is owed $13.8 million in 2018-19, the final year of his deal. The big man fell out of Denver’s rotation this past season and only averaged 5.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in 32 games.
Arthur is slated to make $7.5 million next season, while Chandler will earn $12.8 million.
