Spurs ink Ginobili to two-year contract

Veteran shooting guard Manu Ginobili's new contract with the San Antonio Spurs will be worth $5 million and is fully guaranteed for two years, according a report from The Vertical.

Ginobili, 40, had never intended to sign with anyone but the Spurs. The team made his signing official in a press release Wednesday.

He averaged 7.5 points and 2.7 assists as a member of the Western Conference runners-up last season, his 15th in the NBA.

Ginobili is 6-foot-6 and returns to a backcourt that also features Spurs mainstays such as Tony Parker and Danny Green, and also Patty Mills -- who agreed to four-year deal with the franchise in July.

The Spurs also added small forward Rudy Gay (Sacramento) in free agency this offseason.

Ginobili is one of only two players, along with Bill Bradley, to have won at least a EuroLeague title, an NBA championship, and an Olympic gold medal.
