Silver signs contract extension through 2023-24

NBA commissioner Adam Silver's contract has been extended through the 2023-24 season, NBA Board of Governors Chairman and Toronto Raptors owner Larry Tanenbaum announced Wednesday.

Silver has been commissioner since February 2014, when he placed David Stern -- who had held down the job since 1983.

Prior to being named commissioner, Silver served as the league's deputy commissioner and chief operating officer for eight years. He joined the league in 1992.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
