San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker will join the Austin Spurs of the G League for a rehab assignment, ESPN reported, citing sources.
According to an ESPN source, Parker is expected to join the Austin Spurs for "a few days" during training camp. Something official is forthcoming from the Spurs.
Parker, 35, suffered a torn quadriceps tendon in May during the Western Conference semifinals. He has not played in a game since.
The Austin Spurs will hold part of training camp in San Antonio. Parker is expected to join them then, according to ESPN. He is expected to be out until January but hopeful of returning before then, ESPN noted.
Parker averaged 10.1 points and 4.5 assists in 63 games last season, his 16th in the league, all with the Spurs.
