Pacers to sign Matthews after release from Knicks

The Indiana Pacers will sign veteran swingman Wes Matthews following his release by the New York Knicks, according to a report from Shams Charania of Stadium.

Matthews was acquired by the Knicks from the Dallas Mavericks as part of last week’s huge involving Kristaps Porzingis.

The Knicks, who know they have no shot at the postseason, have had no intentions all along at keeping Matthews on the roster as they are looking to be a top team in the lottery after the regular season.

Matthews is on the final year of a $70 million contract, and would for sure entertain cash for a buyout to get back to a contender, despite the position the Pacers are in minus Oladipo.

The 32-year-old this season is averaging 12.8 points and 2.3 assists per game, hitting 40 percent from the field.

He will undoubtedly make an interesting addition to a Pacers roster that could use some guard help.
