Rockets rolling at a historic pace

The Houston Rockets are, obviously, the hottest team in the NBA right now.

That's what a 12-game winning streak, which is what the high-flying Rockets are currently riding as they hold the best record in the league at 46-13.

However, led by NBA Most Valuable Player frontrunner JamesHarden and fellow guard ChrisPaul, what they are doing offensively is... well, simply the best in the history of the league. If they can maintain their pace, the Rockets' offensive rating of 116.0 would be the No. 1 figure in the NBA since it began figuring the category starting with the 1973-74 season.

The high-water mark coming into this season was 115.6, set first by the 1986-87 Los Angeles Lakers and then equaled by the Golden State Warriors last season.

Running out the top five are the 1991-92 Chicago Bulls at 115.5 and the 1987-88 Boston Celtics at 115.4, a mark being matched by Golden State this season.

Houston will look to extend its winning streak to 13 tonight at Utah (31-29), which has won nine of its last 10 games.
