The Phoenix Suns have been active in attempting to trade for an established point guard and made inquiries on Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier, according to John Gambadoro of ArizonaSports.com.
Walker is in the final year of his contract with the Charlotte Hornets and will make $12 million in 2018-19. Rozier will become a restricted free-agent in 2019 and the Boston Celtics have been unwilling to trade him because they want to protect themselves in case Kyrie Irving leaves next summer.
Lillard signed a five-year extension with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2015 and can’t become a free-agent until 2021. The All-Star has consistently said he wants to retire with the Blazers.
The Suns traded Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in a deal that brought Ryan Anderson to Phoenix. As a result, the team needs a point guard in the worst way.
The only untouchable players on the Suns are believed to be Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and Josh Jackson.
