Veterans Thomas, Williams among four waived by Nets

Veteran forward Lance Thomas was among four players waived by the Brooklyn Nets, as the team relayed in a press release.

Guards C.J. Massinburg, D.J. Cannady and C.J. Williams were also let go.

Thomas, 31, is 6-foot-8 and spent the previous five seasons with the New York Knicks. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 46 appearances last season. He was the longest-tenured member of the Knicks at the end of last season, when he opted not to re-sign.

Massinburg is a 6-3 rookie and joined the Nets for summer league after four years at Buffalo. He averaged 18.2 points and 6.5 rebounds as senior last season.

Cannady is 6-2 and spent four years at Princeton, averaging 18.2 points and 5.8 rebounds last season as a senior. He played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in summer league.

Williams, 29, is 6-5 and has spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers, as well as the G League and overseas. He averaged 2.6 points in 15 appearances with the Wolves last season.
