Cavs' Shumpert to return Monday night

Publish date:

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert, who has been sidelined the last three games with right knee soreness, will return to the lineup Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Head coach Tyronn Lue told reporters that Shumpert will come off the bench, with veteran Jose Calderon remaining the starter at point guard.

"He [Shumpert] fits in because we've been putting J.R. back with the second unit," Lue said Sunday. "That will be Shump's position now."

Isaiah Thomas is still recovering from his hip injury and Derrick Rose is away from the team evaluating his playing future, so having Shumpert back is huge for the Cavs and their depth.

Shumpert is averaging 5.2 points this season while shooting 39.3 percent from the field and 28.0 percent from beyond the arc.

The Cavs (12-7) enter their matchup versus the Sixers on a seven-game winning streak.
