Source: Cavaliers Claim Tyler Cook from Nuggets
It seems the Cavaliers will have a training camp decision to make after claiming undrafted rookie forward Tyler Cook off waivers from the Denver Nuggets, a source told CavMaven/SI.com.
Cook is 6-foot-7 and was signed to a two-way contract with the Nuggets, who released him Wednesday. It appears the Cavs will have to decide to either keep Cook or center Marques Bolden, another undrafted rookie.
One will be released; one will is likely to receive the team's available two-way contract slot. (Rookie power forward Dean Wade has been given the other.)
Cook entered the draft in the spring following his junior year at Iowa. He averaged 14.5 points on 52 percent shooting for the Hawkeyes and collected 7.6 rebounds.
Cook, 22, suffered an ankle sprain during a pre-draft workout and then signed with the Nuggets for summer league.
The Cavs will need to get down to the 15-man roster limit by Monday at 5 p.m. EST.
Cook's signing was first reported by The Athletic.
