Cavs' Love remains in concussion protocol prior to Finals
Kevin Love's status for Game 1 of the NBA Finals remains unclear, Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue told reporters of his starting power forward Tuesday.
Love was placed in the league's concussion protocol after banging heads with Boston Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Love missed Game 7, when the Cavs defeated the Celtics on the road to advance to their fourth straight Finals appearance.
The Cavs open the Finals against the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Thursday at 9 p.m.
Love has had an up-and-down postseason, with averages of 13.9 points and 10.0 rebounds. Jeff Green replaced him in the starting lineup in Game 7 vs. the Celtics, and Green responded with 19 points and eight boards in the Cavs' 87-79 win.
The Cavs departed for San Francisco following practice Tuesday.
