With Blatt gone, Cavs players must answer
The days of blaming David Blatt are over.
Throughout the weekend, Blatt, the former Cleveland Cavaliers coach, was the main culprit for an uninspired season as stories and comments detailed Blatt’s flaws.
He wasn’t hard enough on stars LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Gave them a free pass at the expense of teammates. Wasn’t communicating roles. Failed to get players to buy in to his system or culture or habits. Mismanaged playing time, rotations and in-game rotations.
But there’s another story beyond Blatt being a good coach when he got to the NBA and remaining a good coach now. If you think otherwise about Blatt, remember Steve Kerr wanted him as his lead assistant with the Golden State Warriors before Cleveland hired him in the summer of 2014.
