The OKC Thunder and LA Clippers connection is strong

Oklahoma City Thunder fans still have a ton of love for Russell Westbrook. There are several connections between the OKC Thunder and LA Clippers, and Westbrook is one of the most recent examples.

Signing with the Clippers after being bought out by the Utah Jazz, Westbrook has been a big addition to a team that hopes to make a deep playoff run. When Westbrook was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019, the organization was making the transition to what they hoped would be their next franchise point guard in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. It hasn’t taken long for Gilgeous-Alexander to become a star in the NBA, as he already looks to be a legitimate franchise centerpiece for OKC.

Having faced Westbrook and the Clippers in each of his last two games, Gilgeous-Alexander was asked about the future Hall-of-Fame point guard following Thursday night's loss in LA.

"He's one of the best competitors to ever play the game," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "Him as well is a really good guy off the court. A guy that I'm cool with, and we're friends. He's just a really good guy."

While it's different from the way Westbrook is loved by Thunder fans, considering everything he did for that organization, Gilgeous-Alexander won over Clippers fans after just one season in LA. It's not common to see a player spend just their rookie season with an organization and still be revered the way Gilgeous-Alexander is in Los Angeles, but there's absolutely love for him every time he comes back.
