Memphis Grizzlies vs. Atlanta Hawks Preview
Preview
Trae Young and Ja Morant have not faced each other for more than a quarter since April 2021. That should finally change tonight as the Atlanta Hawks host the Memphis Grizzlies for their annual home matchup.
Memphis has survived a tumultuous season thus far. Despite Morant's drama and a litany of injuries, the team still ranks second in the Western Conference. What Memphis lacks in outside shooting, they more than makeup for in defense and close looks at the rim.
Conversely, Atlanta ranks eighth in the Eastern Conference and is still a team searching for its identity. The team has floated around .500 all season, even after a front office overhaul and coaching change midseason.
Tonight's game means more to Atlanta since they are battling for postseason positioning, but the real winners tonight will be the fans who finally get to see Young and Morant face off again.
Injury Report
Memphis' injury report lists Steven Adams (knee), Brandon Clarke (Achilles), Ziaire Williams (foot), and Vince Williams Jr. (shoulder) are out.
Atlanta has not yet released its official injury report. However, Jalen Johnson (mild left hamstring strain; mild left groin strain) and De’Andre Hunter (left knee contusion) missed last night's game.
