Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler Continues To Downplay "Playoff Jimmy" Phenomenon
Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler may not want to admit it but “Playoff Jimmy” is becoming a real thing.
H e is one of the best playoff performers in the NBA but is even better in the postseason.
It added fuel to the nickname that Butler refuses embrace.
“It’s not a thing,” Butler said, brushing it off. “It’s not. I just be hooping.”
When Giannis Antetokounmpo returned to the lineup, pundits expected the Bucks to tie the series. Instead, Butler went off for 56 points.
It’s unlikely Butler posts another 50-point game Wednesday in Game 3 but he has proven he’s capable of taking over when needed. And the rest of the league is taking notice.
After scoring 35 points to eliminate the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday, Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray said he was inspired by Butler.
"You know when you watch something, you get like goosebumps or your heart skips a beat or something," Murray said. "Jimmy was incredible. You could see his emotion when he hit that shot. He was feeling that kind of energy. He just felt absolutely unstoppable, which he was [Monday] night."
