Tua Tagovailoa And Miami Dolphins Hope To Have Same Postseason Success As Miami Heat

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa shows improvement in OTAs.

The biggest question mark for the Miami Dolphins was quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

So far, he is showing improvement in the organized team activities. The Dolphins need him if they hope to make a deep playoff run in a stacked conference.

Perhaps they can mirror the success of their South Florida counterparts, the Miami Heat and the Florida Panthers, who are both in the Finals after impressive postseason runs as eighth seeds. The Dolphins were the bottom seed in their conference last season, falling to the Buffalo Bills in the first round. But they arguably could have won if they had Tagovailoa in the lineup instead of third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson.

Tagovailoa’s third year in the league was tricky to evaluate. He looked like an MVP candidate after the first three games before suffering a scary concussion that sidelined him for three more games. A five-game win streak was then preceded by five consecutive losses where the Dolphins quarterback struggled. Nevertheless, it was an improvement from the previous season with health as the main issue.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler even said the team was administering activities for self-protection in game scenarios.

“I was told the Dolphins actually implemented some Jiu-Jitsu workouts with their quarterbacks in their pre-practices routine. To learn how to fall forward and protect their head.”

If the Dolphins can join their counterparts in postseason success, it’s going to be hard to contain South Florida sports fans.
