Raptors Update O.G. Anunoby's Status for Jazz Matchup

The Utah Jazz face the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.

The Utah Jazz will be looking for their third straight home win when they host the Toronto Raptors at Vivint Arena on Wednesday night. The Jazz enter the contest with a clean bill of health, but the Raptors will be missing a key contributor.

Toronto starting forward O.G. Anunoby will be absent due to a wrist injury and is reported to be out for the remainder of the Raptors' road trip that runs through Sunday.

Jazz fans may remember the Anunoby rumors last summer, with Toronto being a potential landing spot for Rudy Gobert or Donovan Mitchell. Those rumors never came to fruition, but as we approach the trade deadline, Anunoby’s name is surfacing again in potential trade talks.

It’s unknown whether the Jazz have any interest in Toronto’s starting forward, but he does play a position that Utah could be looking to upgrade. The Jazz are entering into the matchup at 26-26 and tied for the Western Conference's No. 9 seed, which would get them into the play-in game.

However, the Jazz are only two games removed from the No. 4 seed while also just having a two-game lead over the Los Angeles Lakers, who sit at No. 13. Utah’s next four games are at home, where the team boasts a 17-9 this year.

How this next week plays out could influence whether Jazz executive Danny Ainge will be taking the foot on or off the gas post-trade deadline.

Tip off is at 7:00 pm MDT.
