Lakers Injury Report: LA Will Be Without 2 Forwards Vs Nets Tonight

Can the Lakers still notch their first win of the 2023 preseason?

Your Los Angeles Lakers will be without two key role player forwards when their second game of the 2023-24 preseason, against the Brooklyn Nets, tips off at 6 p.m. PT on Spectrum SportsNet.

Mike Trudell of Lakers.com reports that new signing Cam Reddish and newly-extended Jarred Vanderbilt will both be held out by Los Angeles this evening as a precautionary measure.

Reddish, a 6'8" journeyman small forward who has struggled to find an NBA home since being selected with the tenth pick out of Duke in the 2019 draft, sprained his ankle during Saturday's 125-108 loss to the Golden State Warriors

Vanderbilt, a 6'9", defense-first power forward who first arrived in town as part of the three-time Russell Westbrook trade, recently signed a four-year, $48 million extension to stay in Los Angeles. Trudell reveals that he is dealing with a heel injury. Vanderbilt started alongside Rui Hachimura during the Warriors game, recording more rebounds (seven) than points (six, on 2-of-4 shooting) in 20:55. It seems like Hachimura will now draw the start alongside James, though that would have been more of an open question had both he and Vanderbilt been healthy heading into tonight.
