Following your Los Angeles Lakers' 112-108 road loss Sunday night to the New York Knicks, head coach Darvin Ham spoke with gathered media in his postgame presser about what went wrong, and what he thinks his 33-35 team can do differently in the time it has left, even without leading scorer LeBron James.

"I thought they were extremely physical, but that's how teams are going to play us. That team is built that way, [with] a hard-nosed, tough, outstanding coach," Ham allowed. "We had some unfortunate plays, gave up some untimely rebounds to them. Didn't get back in transition. We had our moments in the game as well, we did things well, but for the most part a lot of what they did came unfortunately at the expense of us trying to get a stop or trying to keep them off the glass or fouling them. They had some guys step up and make some shots as well. It's unfortunate, but again we don't have time to feel sorry for ourselves. We have to go back and fill our cups up and get ready for this two-game road trip.

"Being two games under .500 and [having] 14 left to play, " Ham said. "We have time, but we can’t waste any more time. We can’t waste any more games."

In terms of how he's hoping the team learns from this loss, he felt that sustained concentration on the task at hand could be the key.

"And we've got to come out with a focus for as much of a 48 minute [game as possible]," Ham opined. "We've got to have that focus consistently and throughout."
