In a brand new edition of his show The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Ringer's Bill Simmons proposed a completely absurd new super team construction plan for current Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James, very much in his NBA dotage age 38 and in year 20.

Simmons has noted in the past explicitly that he hates aggregators, but unfortunately this is too juicy a tidbit to not aggregate, so we are officially offering our apologies on this front.

He proposes that James will join the Dallas Mavericks alongside All-Star guards Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, and that Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green, who was an All-Star in 2022 and is a pal of James', will join them.

“I think he ends up in Dallas with Kyrie and with Luka, and that LeBron tries to figure out a way to get there eventually. Yeah, that’s my prediction.”

The big issue with a "super team" comprising this particular foursome is that only one of them plays consistent defense.

Would James prioritize money still, and demand to be traded to Dallas? It probably makes more sense for him to wait until he himself hits free agency, which can happen as soon as the summer of 2024. He may need to take a discount to join the club as a free agent, but at that point he will be entering his 22nd NBA season, having already earned over $1 billion on and off the court.
