Your Los Angeles Lakers hung in there throughout much of the night, but eventually the Golden State Warriors made enough buckets -- and defended the paint surprisingly well against Lakers drives -- to put LA away for good halfway through the fourth quarter of an eventual 121-106 Game 5 Warriors win.

But this evening's loss was kind of a secondary news item for LA tonight.

Star Lakers center Anthony Davis, who has by far been the most impactful two-way player in this series, took a possibly inadvertent Kevon Looney elbow to the face late in the contest's second half:

He eventually had to depart the game and, after sitting with trainers at the Lakers' bench, left the Chase Center floor and was escorted to the visitors' locker room.

Per Chris Haynes of Turner Sports, Davis was later moved to an exam room in a wheelchair to undergo additional examination from Los Angeles' medical staff. Haynes later reported that The Brow has apparently not incurred a concussion, which certainly could have held him out of a critical Game 6 on Friday:

Later, sources informed Haynes that Davis is "doing much better now."

In 32:18, Davis scored 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out three assists, while registering a team-worst -22 plus-minus.

Until we get a full diagnosis, I wouldn't say Lakers fans are quite out of the woods just yet. But if Davis is relatively healthy Friday, I think the team stands a very good chance of closing out this now 3-2 series at home then.
