Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James has had his status upgraded once again as tipoff time nears for LA's Crypto.com Arena matinee matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that James, who has missed his team's past 13 straight games with a right foot tendon injury, will test the ailing foot ahead of today's contest in the hopes of actually returning to the floor.

Accordingly, the 6'9" vet is now listed as "questionable" to play, a big improvement from his previous designation as "doubtful."

Getting LeBron James back so soon would be an unexpected boon for a Lakers team that, as of this writing at least, could be without its starting point guard D'Angelo Russell, who is questionable with right hip soreness.

This new-look Lakers club has gone a surprising 12-6 since its fresh post-trade deadline pieces were added at the trade deadline. James has been absent for the majority of those bouts. With the 19-time All-Star back in the fold, the ceiling for Los Angeles is sky high, especially against a Bulls team missing its own starting point guard, $20 million man Lonzo Ball, out for the rest of this year (and probably next) with his third knee surgery.
