The Purple and Gold had high expectations (like always) to make the playoffs and go on a deep run, and who could blame them? When you have LeBron James and Anthony Davis playing at a high level, why wouldn't you think they can make a deep playoff run?
And then the season started, and the Lakers looked nothing like the championship team some hoped they'd be. It was evident your Los Angles Lakers needed to make moves, and LA brass did just that. They acquired five new players during the trade deadline who fit better with their superstar players, and now this Lakers team looks like a force to be reckoned with.
Because of that, many people are changing their opinion on the purple and gold, including Bally Sports NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson. Scoop B got bold on Twitter and shared his "unpopular opinion" with his followers.
I'm not sure this is an unpopular opinion as of late, but be as it may, Scoop B is all aboard the Laker train. You can't blame him; this Lakers team is a complete 180 of what they were pre-trade deadline. LA had a point guard who could not shoot, no one who could truly create their own shot, and zero shooters. You can't expect to win at a high level without those pieces. Within a span of two days, the Lakers suddenly had that, and fans were ecstatic.
The hype is real surrounding the Lakers team. If they can get LeBron back, play at a relatively high level, and stay healthy, there is no limit to what this team can accomplish. However, they first need to secure a playoff spot, and then we can talk about the rest afterward.
