Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward has been sidelined for LA's past 11 games with a right foot tendon injury, and could be reassessed at some point this week by the team's medical staff. During this absence, Los Angeles has acquitted itself competently, having gone 6-5 in the games he's sat with the tendon ailment.

Last week, ESPN LA expert Ramona Shelburne spoke with Malika Andrews for an "NBA Today" segment about how James was progressing. He had at the time just returned to the sidelines for LA for its game against the resurgent New York Knicks, after spending about a week away from the team.

"He had no walking boot, he was on the bench, he had been away from the team two games with a medically-excused absence," Shelburne said. "He was back walking without a boot, walking well. I saw him walking out and I didn't see a limp. You look back to the initial timeline, the last game he played was February 26th, they said it's a three-week timeline for the reevaluation. That's a reevaluation [this] week. And so the sense that everyone had around the Lakers [is] it could be longer, but as Darvin Ham said yesterday, things are going as expected, they're going as planned, and he's progressing well."

In his 47 healthy games this season (the 38-year-old has missed time with other injuries), James has been his typically productive self. He's averaging 29.5 points on .501/.308/.759 shooting splits, 8.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 0.9 steals a night.
