Lakers: Is One Of The West's Best Eyeing Carmelo Anthony?

Future Hall of Fame combo forward Carmelo Anthony, a 10-time All-Star who last served with your Los Angeles Lakers as one of the few bright spots on an otherwise miserable 33-49 season in 2021-22, remains an unsigned free agent this season.
Phoenix Suns All-Star power forward Kevin Durant, his teammate on the US Olympic team in 2012 and 2016, believes Melo has plenty of juice left to help an NBA club.
"I think he has the talent to play in our league," Durant told Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson of Bally Sports.
During his lone season with the Lakers, the 6'7" Anthony proved to be a reliable sharpshooting reserve power forward, averaging 13.3 points on .441/.375/.830 shooting splits, 4.2 rebounds, and an assist.
The 38-year-old has enjoyed a 19-year career, starring with the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder before taking on more of a bench shooter role with the Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and finally the Lakers.
He would be a great fit for a Phoenix Suns team that had to offload a lot of its wing depth in the deal that landed Durant in the desert. Will the Suns take that leap? Melo also could consider an overseas option. Ex-NBA stars (such as his 2021-22 Lakers teammate Dwight Howard) have had plenty of success internationally once the offers dry up stateside.
