Lakers News: Rui Hachimura's Powerful Reason for Picking Jersey No. 28 in LA

Such a heartwarming reason.

The newest Laker, Rui Hachimura, has been in Los Angeles a little over a week. He came over in a deal with the Washington Wizards for Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks, and thus far, his fit in perfectly.

Before coming to Los Angeles, Hachimura spent the first three-plus years of his career in Washington. With the Wizards, he wore jersey No. 8 in honor of Laker legend Kobe Bryant.

However, that jersey is obviously retired in LA, so Hachimura had to pick a different jersey. He went with No. 28, and the reason for this one was even more heartwarming.

"Because of No. 2 for Gianna and No. 8 for Kobe."

It's so nice to see Hachimura honoring not only Kobe, but also his daughter, Gianna. It's a beautiful way to remember their legacies, especially as Hachimura is someone the Lakers want to keep around long-term.

Hachimura has already fit in perfectly with the Lakers on the floor, and off the floor, he's very quickly becoming a fan favorite.

I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of No. 28 jerseys in the Crypto.com Arena stands for years to come.
