It's time to do some intensive tea leaf reading.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, injured Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James has had his health status upgraded ahead of LA's home-and-home pair of bouts against the Chicago Bulls.

James has been shifted from out to merely "doubtful" for Sunday's first game against Chicago.

James has missed his team's past 13 games with a right foot tendon injury, which the 6'9" swingman aggravated in the Lakers' impressive comeback victory against the Dallas Mavericks last month.

As Dave McMenamin of ESPN notes LA has gone 8-5 without James, in a surprising testament to the rebuilt club's resilience.

"Progressing as normal," head coach Darvin Ham said of James' recovery, per McMenamin. "Just doing the work that needs to be done for him to get his foot all the way together."

Los Angeles has reached a 37-37 record and the Western Conference's eighth seed, and has a chance at circumventing the play-in tournament bracket altogether if James and starting point guard D'Angelo Russell can return sooner rather than later to the team's rotation.

Across his 47 healthy contests this season, the 19-time All-Star is averaging 29.5 points on .501/.308/.759 shooting splits, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 dimes.
