A source informs Landon Buford of Forbes that 19-time Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James traveled to Germany in an effort to improve his right foot tendon injury.

Per this source, James may have jetted abroad to undergo platelet-rich plasma therapy on the ailing foot, a process that is now permitted stateside. So why would James travel abroad at all? To be fair, he was away from the team for a few games last week, and as of this writing is unclear what exactly he was up to during that window.

When healthy this season, James has been his typically productive self, averaging 29.5 points on .501/.308/.759 shooting splits, 8.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 0.9 steals a night. That said, the 38-year-old has also missed a ton of games in his 20th season (26 and counting), and just today downplayed rumors that he was planning on a return for the final 3-4 games of LA's regular season (the team has nine contests left to play).

James is hardly the first LA immortal to look elsewhere for treatment in the twilight of his career. 18-time Los Angeles Lakers All-Star shooting guard Kobe Bryant traveled to Deutschland to undergo the procedure, primarily for his balky knees.
