Community Tutorial goodness
To start, as 15th has pointed out, the way to get to the Community board as currently constructed is to go to News in the top left corner of the page.
After that, not far down, the Tool Bar looks like this:
The default is usually on Featured. Switch that to Community and that's where I'd bookmark this page.
On that same Tool Bar, you see in the middle 3 View options, a 2 bar, 3 bar and 4 bar option.
Mostly for the purposes of the community forum, the 2 and 3 bar options are the same as there are little pics posted here in the opening post (those two options differ in the Featured section as there is more room for pics and stuff). The 2 and 3 bar options will give you the last reply in the post, which is really handy. The 4 bar just gives you the original condensed comment.
The last part is the Sort option. In the Community board you have the options of Newest/Oldest/Popular/Fresh
Newest posts the newest posts from the top down.
Oldest posts puts the oldest post from the top down
Popular posts takes into account the amount of replies, likes, and I believe newest posts into account and gives you the best from the top down
Fresh...honestly I don't know.
Last is the 2 other sort options once you get into an original topic.
is the first replies (or I think they're called comments) sort order, those options are the same as above.
is the second tier replies (or Replies) sort order and also same as above.
There are many ideas on how people prefer to view things here. Maybe this is a good place to post your preferred viewing options.
The Community link on Featured and News now point to the same place.
Since there is no editing...WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO EDIT POSTS!
The Newest sort option does not take into account any newest replies in a thread. That is why I use Last Reply, as that gives you the last reply and takes into account the newest original posts as well.
After going to Community in Top Stories, then News, then Gameday, it looks like Top Stories gets the discussion in all 3 whereas News and Gameday are their own Community discussions.
This should be a stickied post just for all newcomers to get the hang of it.
Plus, I know how much you love stickied topics.

The forum version created by Magicain is like the boards from the past and is ready to use already...
Yup, I registered there as well.
Whike in the end we should have a board together with Mike, this is is a real solution for as long as we do not come together...
What are you referring to?
If you go back to the 247 board, Magican has posted a link to a forum that he created so we can all have one place to go. It can be until Mike finds a solution or a permanent place that can be used to nest into Maven, or looks like it can be our permanent home away from home for those that refuse to try Maven out and give it a real chance. Without any communication other than "we're working on it" there is no clear answer as to whether or not this is what Mike wants to be his community set up.
The "it" part is what many are confused about (myself included). Is "it" that they're working on a new actual message board and that takes them this much time to get it set up (not really plausible since magician has done that already)?
Is "it" that they're trying to figure out how to implement all our requests and that takes this much time to figure out and at what point do they just figure the time isn't worth it for them (more plausible given the time factor)?
Is "it" something else not thought up by me, but is holding up the process for whatever reason (most plausible, but is why there is such frustration around the little communication)?
Most people just want to know where they will post for the upcoming EXCITING season of Mavs basketball. I'd suspect Mike is losing lots of users by the day (which means the clicks that he was pretty proud to mention when this process started) due to poor communication on this subject matter.
Your speech sums it up, IGT.
I'm honestly confused about the lack...nay: absence of communication by Mike about the backgrounds. Doesn't feel very appreciated...
I gotta say, this is one of the only times in my history of posting with Mike that I am against as opposed to for or at least defending him. I agree the seeming inaction (due to the non-communication) makes me think about his commitment to the community.
Same for me...
This non-communication is so unusual for him. That, combined with the meanwhile extended time span, is just odd.
Of course the community starts wondering, cause the lack of even just a short statement about the status/persepctive is also already kind of a statement itself. Just one we have never witnessed before during all the years with him...
I will say, I don't know if HE had a kid, or if his kid had a kid, or what... but on FB is posted with a picture oh his wife and him holding a baby..... so its possible its just vacation/family stuff he is busy with. That is why I am trying to be patient about this all and I have tried to reach out to him on multiple sites. My plan and what I have done with the other site is with the intentions to work with him and help him, but hopefully he has just been busy....
The only other thing I can think of, is that maybe he is contractually obligated to keep quiet about this move of sorts until things get worked out. So it is possible its that too
Yeah, I also just guessed that. Anyway:
We're all best advised to keep calm and patient in the current situation.
There's no rush now that we have your forum, which is more than a safety net, @mesa Maverick. Now we can wait and talk it out.
The sidegoals here should be to set up an awesome working forum that also enables Mike to get his fair share for the bigger picture goal:
create and cultivate the most amazing online-place of any NBA team.
Also guys, if you haven’t checked out Ep. 36 of our pod yet, Fish spends a good portion of the opening talking about the DBcom changes. He’s going through the growing pains as the rest of us are. We really do appreciate you guys’ patience though as we get more acclimated to all of this.
