Carmelo Anthony Claims Embiid is Clear MVP Over Jokic
One of the biggest debates in the NBA for the past few seasons has been the question of who the MVP is. Many typically claim it's Joel Embiid, while many others also claim it's Nikola Jokic. One former Nuggets legend has a firm stance on his answer.
On the newest episode of the 7PM in Brooklyn Podcast, Carmelo Anthony revealed who he believed is the MVP.
"To answer the question of Embiid, and MVP and the CBA and playing the amount of games," Carmelo said. I just think it’s twofold. Like I get the CBA and why they did it and why they agreed to that, but also with Joel, bro, If you play 50 games cool. If you play 60 games… If you was the best player in the league for ¾ of the season, you the MVP…He MVP bro."
While one could easily say that Carmelo isn't wrong in his assessment, he's had a bit of drama when mentioning Nikola Jokic recently with his jersey discussion. Still, one can't go wrong with picking either Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic as MVP this season.
Joel Embiid is averaging 35.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.9 blocks on 54/36/89 shooting. Nikola Jokic is averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 9.1 assists, and 1.1 steals on 58/35/82 shooting. If there was a year to vote for Embiid over Jokic, this would be the season to do it.
