The FIBA Basketball World Cup championships take place this summer in the Philippines, beginning on August 25 in Manila. Ingram will have his first USA national team experience of his NBA career.
He is coming off an injury-plagued season that saw him play in 45 games, the lowest since he joined the NBA. Ingram finished with season averages of 24.7 points (career-high), 5.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds. His Pelicans team was defeated in the NBA Play-In Tournament by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
His appearance this summer signals a full return to health from the toe and ankle injuries that befell him for the regular season. Team USA has yet to finalize the full 12-man roster. Reportedly, they have commitments from Mikal Bridges, Anthony Edwards, Austin Reaves, Jalen Brunson, Bobby Portis, and Tyrese Haliburton.
Training camp begins on August 3, followed by an exhibition game against Puerto Rico on August 7. TEAM USA placed 7th in the 2019 World Cup. The Spanish National Team was the eventual champion at that event.
