NBA Fans Poke Fun at Knicks’ DiVincenzo After Win vs. Pistons

In this story:
The Detroit Pistons came up short in the final seconds of their Monday night matchup against the New York Knicks.
The way the final seconds of the game played out was sort of similar to their previous matchup against the Orlando Magic.
Over the weekend, the Pistons’ loss to the Magic ended with a Paolo Banchero clutch-time shot that sent him to the free-throw line with less than a second to go in the game. Although Banchero made the shot anyway, Pistons head coach Monty Williams was still frustrated with the late-game call, and the fact that free throw attempts were lopsided in favor of Orlando throughout the game.
On Monday at Madison Square Garden, the Pistons took issue with the fact that they didn’t get a foul call at the end of the game. After coming up big with a steal while holding a one-point lead, Detroit rookie Ausar Thompson was getting out in transition, likely anticipating an intentional foul.
While the Pistons believed that New York’s Donte DiVincenzo surely fouled Thompson as he dove for the ball, which ended up tripping up the guard, the referees’ whistles were silent.
The result? A New York revenge steal, which led to an And-1 to give them the late-game lead before they sealed the deal.
Many NBA fans on social media seem to side with the Pistons. After seeing the way DiVincenzo managed to go about snagging his steal, fans reacted by poking fun at the play on X.
