We now know that David Stern is one of Kanye West's heroes.

Which David Stern is another question.

On Wednesday night, the iconic rapper appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to settle his beef with the show's host, but along the way he revealed a little bit more about himself to the general public. West touched on his ongoing feuds with the paparazzi, his visions as an artist and his life as a celebrity, but the most interesting nugget for NBA fans came when West rattled off a list of his heroes, which surprisingly included the NBA Commissioner's name among some pretty respected company:

When I compare myself to Steve Jobs or Walt Disney, Howard Hughes, David Stern, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Jesus or whatever it is, I'm saying these are my heroes. These are people I look up to. This is the type of impact I want to make on the Earth.

But was West referencing the NBA's David Stern or a different one? (Yes, we're overlooking the fact that Kanye just compared himself to Jesus.)

The other David Stern is a famous German-American artist who refers to himself as an "action painter."

Whether Kanye was referencing the commissioner or the painter isn't clear, but it wouldn't be the first time Kanye has made a grand statement involving in the NBA. Earlier this year, he called himself "the Michael Jordan of music." He's also name dropped Stern in several of his songs over the years.

Here's a clip from Kanye's appearance on Kimmel. Skip ahead to 2:20 for the Stern name drop. You be the judge.
