Spurs coach Gregg Popovich goes another round with TNT's Craig Sager

Friday March 7th, 2014

A TNT appearance for the Spurs typically offers a slice of vigorous give-and-take between Gregg Popovich and Craig Sager. And Thursday was no exception, as the San Antonio coach didn't disappoint during his interview with the sideline reporter before the start of the fourth quarter against Miami.

Nothing if not attentive during these encounters, Popovich asked Sager to repeat his first question.

"How have you turned LeBron James into a perimeter player?" Sager gamely asked for a second time.

"I have no clue," Popovich said.

After a brief but fun staring contest, Sager asked Popovich about the Spurs' difficulty moving the ball during a 20-point third quarter.

"I thought our pace was really poor in the third quarter," the coach said. "I thought we played in mud."

"All right, thank you very much," Sager said. "I guess it's under 14 words."

Don't sell yourself short, Craig. That last answer was actually 17 words.

Anyway, add another chapter to this volume (which ESPN.com's Marc Stein documented so well last year).
