Ornery Spurs coach Gregg Popovich delivered a heartfelt message of support to TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager during Game 1 against the Mavericks on Sunday.

Sager, who announced recently that he is battling acute myeloid leukemia, was replaced on the sideline by his son, Craig Sager, Jr. After taking two questions prior to the fourth quarter, Popovich turned to the camera and expressed his best wishes to Sager.

"You did a great job, but I'd rather have your dad standing here," Popovich said to the younger Sager. "Craig, we miss you. You've been an important part of all of this for a long time, doing a great job. We want your fanny back on the court, and I promise I'll be nice. Get back here. Good luck."

The TNT crew also honored Sager prior to Sunday's games.

Known for his colorful wardrobe and quick wit, Sager has been a regular on TNT's basketball coverage for nearly two decades.
