NBA Draft: Spurs Trade for Bilal Coulibaly, Reunion with Victor Wembanyama?

The San Antonio Spurs could pair Victor Wembanyama with his Metropolitans 92 teammate Bilal Coulibaly in the NBA Draft.

The San Antonio Spurs are less than two weeks away from selecting Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick.

They are already taking one Metropolitans 92 star, so why not take another?

Bilal Coulibaly, a 6-7 wing who turns 19 next month, has been flying up boards in recent weeks and could even be a lottery pick in this year's draft. Given the chemistry Wembanyama and Coulibaly already have, could the Spurs trade up into the draft and take him?

"Dating back to last fall, his development has been notable, going from a player who couldn't get off the bench regularly to an indispensable part of Metropolitans 92," ESPN writes. "Coulibaly projects as an excellent defender and has room for growth offensively, flashing on-ball playmaking and catch-and-shoot upside. Considering he's still 18 years old, there's quite a bit for teams who could use a perimeter stopper to think about here."

In Mets 92's most recent victory advancing on to the LNB Pro A finals, Coulibaly scored 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting, to go along with four assists and two steals.

Obviously, in order to acquire Coulibaly, the Spurs would need to make a trade. There have been conversations about San Antonio moving back into the lottery for a point guard, but Coulibaly could provide similar value given his ascent and history with Wembanyama.

Several teams could look to make a trade out of the lottery, including the Dallas Mavericks at No. 10 and Orlando Magic at No. 11. If the Spurs offered a veteran like Doug McDermott or Zach Collins, along with No. 33 or a future draft pick, perhaps that would entice a team to make the deal.
