Monty Williams Confirms Cam Johnson Will Start at PF

There was never really any doubt, especially with Jae Crowder leaving, but Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams confirmed on Thursday that Cameron Johnson would be the team's starting power forward moving forward.
Since 2019, Johnson has provided a stellar bench presence for Phoenix as a forward. Last season was perhaps his best yet, averaging 12.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per night on 46% shooting (42% from three), all career-highs for the North Carolina product.
With Crowder on the way out and Johnson up for an extension, it only makes sense to slide Johnson into the lineup. Dario Saric, now healthy, will serve as the rotational piece at the four spot.
Now, the ultimate goal is a championship, and the Suns hope more minutes will translate to more growth for the fan-favorite in the Valley:
"I love what we have been able to accomplish as a team," Johnson said. "I'm looking forward to continuing that. The way that it stands, I have a year left on my contract, and that is the year I am playing right now. I am super excited to be here. I am super excited for the opportunity. I love this team, I love our guys, and I'm ready to start training camp and get back to work."
