Rudy Gobert Says Officials Favor Suns, Warriors and Kings

Rudy Gobert sounds off on Refs after the Phoenix Suns shot 27 free throws compared to the Minnesota Timberwolves's 12 in last night's game

Rudy Gobert was not happy with the refs after the Minnesota Timberwolves' 107-100 loss against the Phoenix Suns.

After a game where the Timberwolves went to the line just 12 times to Phoenix's 27, Gobert sounded off on the refs saying, "It's not fair. It's really not fair. Every night. I have been in this league for 10 years, and I try to always give the benefit of the doubt, but it is hard for me to think that they are not trying to help (the Suns) win tonight.”

"It is hard for me to think that they didn't try to have the Warriors win the other night or the Sacramento Kings the other night. It is just so obvious as a basketball player. I have been in this league for so long, and it is disrespectful."

This of course comes after a long stretch of games where the Suns were consistently outshot at the free throw line, to the point where Phoenix coach Monty Williams was fined for comments following a game.

Gobert finished the game with five fouls including a few illegal screens which irked Minnesota coach Chris Finch.

"They weren't illegal screens," Finch said following the game. "They were physical plays. Durant leads with his elbow into Rudy's face, which is something that happens all around the league. They tag Rudy for it."

This season, Phoenix has shot the third least amount of free throws attempted per game in the entire NBA with 21.6 while the Timberwolves rank middle of the pack shooting the 16th most at 23.7.

Criticism of the officiating has been a common theme this season and will likely continue, especially in the playoffs where one call can end a team's season.
