NBA Mock Draft: Adding Another Arkansas Prospect in OKC?

Could the Thunder add yet another Razorback to the roster in the 2023 NBA Draft?

The NBA Combine has come and gone, as prospects begin to work out privately with teams around the league. The Oklahoma City Thunder own the No. 12 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft with yet another opportunity to add to the core of the team.

This range is generally a great place to find talent in recent history, especially at No. 12 overall specifically. Who could Oklahoma City take in this spot?

Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo of ESPN recently released a mock draft for the 2023 class following the combine, which gives insight into where some of the top players in the upcoming rookie class could land. Their projection has the Thunder selecting one of the most dynamic scorers in the class with Oklahoma City’s lottery pick.

Although the Thunder is already loaded at guard, Smith would bring a new dynamic to the team. While OKC already has playmakers and the ability to get to the rim and score in the paint, Smith would immediately be one of the best shooters on the team. He would also be yet another former Arkansas prospect to be added to the Thunder roster.

Smith was hurt for the majority of his lone college season, but was viewed as a potential top five pick coming out of high school. As such, he could end up being the biggest steal of this draft if he gets back to looking like we expected before the injury issues.
