Dort Scores 35 to Lift the Blue to a Season Opening Win.

The Oklahoma City Blue beat  South Bay Lakers, 120-114, in the season opener.

The Blue jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead to start the game and held the advantage for the entirety of the contest. The gap swelled to its largest at 22 points midway through the third after an 11-2 Oklahoma City run punctuated by a driving layup from  Luguentz Dort. The Lakers pulled back within six points as time expired but would get no closer as the Blue finished out on top.

Dort led the way with a game-best 35 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field and 4-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc, five rebounds and five assists. This marks the most scored by any Blue player in their debut.

On assignment from the Thunder, Justin Patton logged a team-high-tying eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and a game-leading three blocks. Myke Henry and Kevin Hervey pitched in 18 points and eight rebounds apiece.

DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell led all reserves with 26 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a team-leading three steals, shooting 10-for-15 from the floor and 3-for-5 from long range.

Gary Payton II led South Bay with 22 points on 11-for-14 shooting, 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.

Up next, the Blue will make the short trip to Ontario, Calif. to take on the Agua Caliente Clippers on Monday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. CST inside Toyota Arena.
