Shai Gilgeous-Alexander "Chemistry Won't be an Issue"

One of the big questions confronting the Oklahoma City Thunder for the restart of the NBA season is how the time off will affect the chemistry they built on the court. Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander believes the Thunders' character will help them overcome any adversity they may face. 

"The high character you have on this team, I don't think chemistry and things like that will be too much of an issue for us coming back." Before Adam Silver put the NBA on ice, the Oklahoma City Thunder was rolling. 

Winners in eight of their last ten the Thunder found themselves just a game and a half behind Denver for the third seed in the Western Conference. Then came March 11th, Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, and the world shut down.

 Just because there were no games for three months doesn't mean Shai-Gigleous Alexander was lazy. The 21-year-old used his time wisely to work on his game. 

"I played pretty much the whole time."..."A lot of the first part of it was more like outside stuff because I wasn't able to get into a gym." 

"But as soon as things started opening back up, I was able to get into a gym, and things were back to normal in terms of basketball." The Thunder will be going through individual workouts for the next eight days till training camp starts in Orlando. 

Before July 1st, workouts had been voluntary, head coach Billy Donovan says that all members of the Thunder have been back working out on their own before the league required them to return. "Our guys came back even before that deadline the 23rd when everybody needed to report back; we had guys in way before that. " 

Donovan also says his players love playing the game of basketball, but the opportunity to get back on the court is essential to all of them.
