Karl-Anthony Towns looked like he was chasing a record Monday at Target Center.

On March 2, 1962, Wilt Chamberlain scored 59 points for the Philadelphia Warriors in the second half of a game against the New York Knicks.

Towns didn’t quite set the all-time record, but he set the record for most points in a half in Timberwolves history, racking up 44 points in the first half against the Charlotte Hornets.

The crowd at Target Center were absolutely loving it.

Towns shot 14 of 17 from the field, with a 8-of-9 mark from 3-point range.

He accounted for almost two-thirds of the points the Wolves scored as they went in at half-time with a 69-64 lead.
